6 Game-Changing Hair Oils
for rapid hair growth
By Nat Habit
Hair is the crown we were born with, but unfortunately, it doesn't care for itself. Moreover, external factors like pollution, sunlight, stress, chemicals, etc., aggravate hair-related issues leading to excessive hair fall and other scalp conditions which stop new hair from growing.
And we all have experienced this bad hair phase at some point of time.
As we know, there's a supply for every demand. Hence, we have many synthetic hair care products in the market that claim to aid hair growth. And if truth be told, they might work as well. But what needs to be highlighted is that they come with an additional cost to you and the environment as they are heavily loaded with chemicals. On top of that, hair growth promoted by synthetic compositions is short-lived. They do not permanently treat the condition. These hair care products focus on quick results rather than identifying and managing the root problem.
Do we give up, then? No! The secret of getting healthy hair lies in mother nature itself. The good thing is that it isn’t some rare ingredient that’s found in the hills which will give you long and lustrous hair. But many naturally occurring oils can get you the hair you’ve always dreamt of. Mixed or prepared with other natural ingredients, these oils increase their efficacy and show results within a few weeks. We have tested it N number of times, so we're pretty sure here!
That being said, it is also crucial that these ingredients are utilized correctly. How a particular oil is being used and what (and how) it is being infused with, stand crucial here.
We did the research, and here are the six best hair oils which we found to be most effective for promoting hair growth:
Coconut oil with Nigella Seeds (Kalonji) & Fenugreek Seeds (Methi dana)
We have grown up hearing how coconut oil is known to have countless benefits. It comes as no surprise that it works great for hair too. Coconut oil is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and nutritionally rich, which makes it a great nourishment oil for your hair. The cold-pressed coconut oil can be applied directly to the scalp if it is pure, but the benefits of coconut oil can be manifold when infused with other kitchen-based ingredients like nigella seeds, fenugreek seeds, etc.
We suggest nigella seeds for their anti-inflammatory properties, which deal with scalp irritation and improve the health of hair follicles. They also increase blood circulation in the scalp, which helps in hair growth.
Fenugreek is anti-inflammatory and a good source of protein and amino acids for your hair.
Fun fact - Coconut oil has been grown and consumed in tropical countries for hundreds of years. And as we all know, nature is an exceptional planner, and coconut oil works wonders for people living in such areas.
How to Use Coconut Oil for Hair Growth
Coconut oil is great to be used as a carrier oil for natural hair oil formulations. What's best is that you don't need anything exotic to prepare this simple oil. Just two kitchen ingredients, and you are ready with your hair growth potion.
- Grind a spoonful of nigella and fenugreek seeds in a mixer grinder (a mortar pestle does magic if you are in for some extra work).
- Mix it with 200 ml of coconut oil and put it in a glass jar; keep the jar under sunlight for a week and strain it.
- Apply it twice a week and leave it overnight before washing your hair.
- You can also replace nigella seeds with pure cold-pressed nigella seed oil.
Kalonji and Methi are good to use around the year to boost hair health, but coconut oil as the carrier isn't convenient during winters as it solidifies in lower temperatures. Our Winter Hair Oils are made with oils like almond, olive, mustard, sesame, etc., and enriched with Methi, shikakai, neem, kalonji, and more than 16 other herbs. We recommend cutting the extra work this winter and trying it out for easy hair growth.
Almond Oil
Almond oil offers a multitude of benefits for hair health. It is rich in fatty acids such as omega-6, omega-3, and omega-9 fatty acids. It is also a source of vitamin E and magnesium. The nutritional value of almond oil helps in hair strengthening and further hair growth. It is also one of the lightest hair oils, which does not feel heavy on your hair. The minerals and proteins in almond oil help restore scalp health, which is vital for hair growth.

Considering the same, jojoba oil can be mixed with almond oil to increase its efficacy. The biotin in almond oil blends well with the moisturizing properties of jojoba oil, giving you the perfect concoction for healthy hair growth.
- Mix three parts of almond oil with one part of jojoba oil
- Warm it on slow heat before applying it to the scalp
Infusion through slow heat is used for ages for herbal and ayurvedic preparations. But be careful, as high heat can take away the nutrients from the oils and added ingredients if any. We say it because we follow it. All oils prepared at our ayurvedic kitchen are slowly infused for 12+ hours at suitable temperatures.
Castor Oil
Castor oil is a key component in many store-bought oils advertised as hair growth oils. One cannot deny it as a super ingredient for long hair, but unfortunately, the other unnatural substances and mineral oil base diminish its value to as near as zero. Castor oil is enriched with amino acids, fatty acids, and antioxidants, which are used dominantly in herbal medicines to treat hair and skin-related disorders. For hair, it helps in hair growth by stimulating hair follicles and reducing hair breakage.
It has numerous benefits for your hair but can be a little tricky to use, given the sticky nature of castor oil.
How to Use Castor Oil for Hair Growth:
Castor Oil for hair growth is seldom used on its own. You can use it as is, but mixing it with other oils helps hydrate your hair well, and the oil reaches the roots of your hair.
- Mix a few drops of the best castor oil for hair into 200ml of olive oil to make it appropriate for everyday use.
- 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil can also neutralize castor oil's strong smell. That's the easy way out.
- Mix it with castor oil and rub it on your scalp.
- Please keep it for at least half an hour before washing your hair.
