Before you begin, make sure you have everything that’s gonna be needed throughout the process.

OR

If you are a Ready to Apply Henna Paste lover, you can skip the whole pre-henna process (we have already done it for you) and go directly to the application.

Opt for pure, finely sifted henna without additives, preferably sourced from Sojat, Rajasthan where you can find the best henna.

Enhance its binding & staining properties by adding amla, manjistha, tea/coffee water and rosemary to enhance the stain.

Do not overload the herbs. Keep the right henna to herbs ratio in mind.

Mix the henna in an iron container as it helps in better dye release and makes the henna more effective in covering the grey hair.

Keep the mixture for at least 6-8 hours before use so that the paste can release the dye better.

In the meantime, equip yourself with gloves and a brush for precise application.

During Application

Ensure your hair is clean, washed, and free from tangles. This sets the stage for optimal henna application. OR else the henna compounds won’t bind with your hair cuticles.

You can visit a salon, take someone else’s assistance or be your own hero for the final application. Ensure hair is sectioned properly and henna is applied evenly, starting from the roots to the tips.

After applying, cover your head with plastic wrap to prevent the henna from drying and falling off.

Allow the henna to work its magic for 2-3 hours—any longer may lead to dryness and breakage while a lesser time period won’t let henna do its magic.

Washing The Right Way

Rinse your hair with plain water; skip shampoo as it will open up the cuticles and rinse away the stain.

You can always condition your hair post wash.

The next day, don’t forget to shampoo your hair. This is the right time when you can wash away any particles left on your scalp while not worrying about rinsing your colour away.

Post - Henna Process

Post-henna wash, treat your locks to a nourishing oil massage which will not only lock in the moisture and enhance the colour, but will also keep the stain for a longer time. For this, Mustard or Sesame oil works wonders!

Let the oil rest until the next day before washing. This allows the deepening of stains with longer-lasting colour.

Avoid excess use of shampoo to retain the colour for a longer time.
