The Causes of Greying and How Hair Coloring Works

icon

Reduced melanin in follicles causes greying

Certain factors like biological or premature aging, oxidative stress, hormonal imbalance, nutritional deficiency, and inflammatory damage reduce melanin production in follicles, causing greying.

icon

Everyday habits/ usables that accelerate greying

Smoking, stress, UV exposure, lack of sleep, and environmental pollution increase oxidative stress, while the use of certain chemicals, heat styling, and other treatments weaken melanocytes, reducing pigment.

icon

Chemical dyes - The culprits behind greying promotion & damage

Chemicals like ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, and toxins accelerate oxidative stress, damaging melanocytes. To penetrate the cuticle and deposit color, they break hair proteins, bleach existing natural pigment, and weaken the shaft. Some chemicals also cause scalp inflammation, further affecting the roots.

icon

Henna and Indigo - The best colouring duo

Henna & indigo, natural sources of red and blue pigments, bond with keratin without breaking the cuticle due to henna's natural keratin-binding tendency. Henna leaves a red pigment, allowing indigo to bind and create a dark/black color. The herbs in both pastes enhance staining, binding, and provide benefits like melanin promotion and conditioning. Hence, becoming the best duo of Safe, Natural & Best colouring option.
