How Ubtan Benefits Baby's Initial Years

Click to Know More
The only 100% natural, soap-free cleanser
This ubtan blends skin-safe kitchen ingredients to gently lift impurities without the harsh effects of soaps or chemicals. Milk enzymes and yogurt acids offer mild cleansing, while besan acts as a natural surfactant.
Natural antibacterial & antifungal protection
Lactic acid from yogurt, zinc from almonds, and polyphenols in charoli exhibit strong antimicrobial activity, preventing rashes, infections, and supporting the skin’s natural defense barrier and flora.
Suits highly absorbent, sensitive baby skin
Infant skin is 20–30% thinner than adult skin and far more permeable. This means it absorbs both nutrients and toxins easily. Ubtans offer a food-grade alternative to synthetic cleansers, allowing safe transdermal nourishment without risk.
Promotes firmer, brighter, healthier skin
Vitamins E, B-complex, essential fatty acids and proteins from nuts, pulses, and oils aid in cellular repair, collagen synthesis, and lipid replenishment, giving the baby soft, glowing, and resilient skin.
May help reduce body hair naturally
Gentle exfoliation from besan and enzymatic action from pulses may naturally weaken immature follicles over time, gradually softening and reducing visible body hair in some babies without any harsh action.
Soothes inflammation & balances skin pH
Olive and sesame oils have anti-inflammatory and emollient properties, while yogurt maintains acidic pH, helping prevent itchiness, dryness, or pitta-driven inflammation.

Do's & Don'ts of Baby Cleansing

Click to Know More
Start with sponge baths & use lukewarm water
For the first 2 weeks or until the umbilical cord falls off, sponge bathe the baby using lukewarm water (~37°C). Full water baths should begin only after the stump heals to prevent infection.
Focus on folds & sensitive zones
Clean neck folds, underarms, diaper area, and behind the ears daily to prevent fungal buildup and rashes. Use soft cotton cloth or pads with clean water or floral water.
Don’t overwash—2 to 3 baths a week are enough
A newborn doesn’t need daily baths unless soiled or sweating. Over-cleansing can strip protective oils, leading to dryness, eczema, or irritation.
Never clean ears or nose from inside
Wipe only the outer parts with a clean, damp cloth. Inserting cotton buds or cloth can injure inner structures or push dirt further inside.
Dry gently & moisturize immediately post-bath
Pat the baby dry with a soft towel and apply nourishing creams or oils while the skin is still damp. This locks in moisture and supports healthy skin development.

Little One's Skin is Different Than Ours

Click to Know More
Delicate Skin Barrier
A baby’s skin barrier is still developing, making it thin, fragile, and more prone to damage. This underdeveloped barrier makes moisture loss, rashes, bumps, and infections common concerns, requiring extra-gentle care to keep it protected.
Higher Water Content with Poor Retention
Baby skin may be rich in hydration, but due to its immature structure, it loses moisture quickly. This is why rich emollients and fatty acids found in ingredients like ghee, oils, and butters are essential - they lock in moisture and boost hydration to keep skin soft and supple.
Underdeveloped Sebum Production
Unlike adult skin, a baby’s skin produces minimal sebum, the natural oil that keeps it moisturised. This leads to frequent dryness and a higher risk of conditions like eczema, making external moisturisers crucial to compensate for the lack of natural oils.
Highly Permeable Skin - Whatever Goes Onto the Skin Goes Inside
A baby’s thin, underdeveloped skin allows substances applied topically to penetrate easily, including irritants and microbes. This permeability makes it vital to use only safe, natural, and toxin-free products on their delicate skin.
Higher pH Sensitivity
Naturally higher in pH, baby skin is more vulnerable to disruptions in its barrier function. Gentle, pH-balanced products are key to maintaining healthy skin. Harsh soaps and other cleansers should be avoided to prevent irritation and maintain its natural protective layer.
