Prevents frizz & breakage

Combing with neem wood significantly reduces static charge buildup, unlike plastic combs which generate electrostatic tension that lifts cuticles and causes frizz. The smooth, porous structure of neem wood glides gently through strands, minimizing mechanical stress, breakage, and split ends. This helps maintain the hair’s natural alignment and lipid barrier.

icon

Activates hair growth

The gentle massaging action of a neem wood comb boosts microcirculation in the scalp, increasing oxygen and nutrient delivery to hair follicles. Improved blood flow is critical for prolonging the anagen (growth) phase of the hair cycle, supporting denser, more resilient hair growth and reducing hair thinning over time.

icon

Prevents hairfall & dandruff

Neem’s natural antifungal and antibacterial properties—thanks to compounds like azadirachtin and nimbidin—help combat Malassezia, the yeast associated with dandruff. Pre-treated with oils, neem wood enhances nutrition penetration into the scalp, reducing inflammation, unclogging follicles, and minimizing microbial triggers that often contribute to hair fall and flaking.

icon

Renders sheen

Regular combing with neem wood helps distribute natural scalp oils (sebum) evenly across the hair shaft. This not only strengthens the cuticle but also imparts a healthy, natural gloss to the hair. Over time, the polishing effect of neem wood enhances hair’s light-reflective quality, leaving it looking shinier and smoother.

How to Use

Ensure that the teeth touch your scalp while combing. Deep combing twice is healthy. Detangle before sleep. Note that neem combs will have slightly pointy ends for best follicular activation. And it takes 5-7 uses to get accustomed to a new comb.

Maintenance Tips

Care for your neem comb for enhanced benefits

science-image
  • Soak your comb in any pure herbal hair oil once a month for best results.

  • Keep away from direct heat & sunlight.

  • Neem combs change shape with time & use. They also dry out over time.

  • It is advisable to change your neem comb every 6 months to 1 year.

When Done Right, Detangling Turns Into Power Combing

Enhances Scalp Microcirculation

Combing creates mild mechanical stimulation on the scalp surface, which activates vasodilation—the widening of small blood vessels (capillaries) in the dermis. This improves microcirculation, increasing oxygen and nutrient delivery to hair follicle cells (dermal papilla), essential for cellular metabolism and hair growth cycles.

icon

Mechanical Detangling Reduces Hair Fiber Stress

When hair strands become tangled, knots create localized tension points that can cause mechanical stress and fiber damage. Proper combing carefully separates these strands, reducing shear forces and preventing cuticle layer damage or cortical fiber breakage that leads to split ends and hair weakening.

icon

Facilitates Sebum Distribution Along Hair Shaft

Sebum produced by sebaceous glands in the scalp is naturally hydrophobic and viscous. Combing physically transfers this lipid-rich sebum from the scalp along the hair shaft by capillary action, forming a protective hydrophobic barrier that preserves hair hydration, reduces transepidermal water loss, and protects against environmental insults.

icon

Promotes Exfoliation of Scalp Stratum Corneum

The gentle friction from combing aids in the removal of corneocytes (dead keratinized skin cells) from the scalp’s outermost layer (stratum corneum). This mechanical exfoliation prevents follicular blockage, reducing the risk of folliculitis and dandruff caused by microbial overgrowth or impaired desquamation.

icon

Aligns Hair Cuticle Layers to Reduce Light Scattering

Hair cuticles consist of overlapping keratin scales. Combing helps realign these cuticles flat and uniformly, decreasing surface roughness. This alignment minimizes irregular light scattering, thereby increasing light reflection and imparting a glossy appearance to hair strands.

icon

Modulates Sebaceous Gland Activity Through Mechanotransduction

The mechanical forces exerted by combing stimulate mechanoreceptors in the scalp skin, influencing sebaceous gland cells via mechanotransduction pathways. This stimulation can help regulate lipid synthesis and secretion, balancing sebum levels to maintain scalp homeostasis and prevent dryness or excessive oiliness.
