Lipid Replenishment & Intercellular Bond Repair

Rich in omega-3, 6, & 9 fatty acids, it replenishes the lipid layer that binds cuticle cells together. This mimics the intercellular bond of hair, sealing gaps between scales, thereby improving surface smoothness, flexibility, and preventing moisture escape.

icon

Penetrative Conditioning & Cortex Hydration

Lauric acid (from coconut) and smaller triglycerides penetrate the hair shaft due to their low molecular weight and affinity for keratin. These fatty acids penetrate the cortex, reducing internal dryness and increasing tensile strength. This internal moisturisation reduces brittleness, enhances elasticity, and reduces breakage during combing or styling.

icon

Protein-Bond Restoration & Structural Cohesion

Methi (fenugreek) and amla are rich in lecithin, phyto-proteins, and tannins, which bind to keratin. This helps realign misfolded keratin structures and reinforces hydrogen bonding networks, leading to smoother, stronger strands with better cuticle cohesion and less fibre swelling in humid conditions.

icon

Cuticle Realignment & Antioxidant Sealing

Repeated dryness causes the cuticle to lift and crack, leading to a dull and rough texture. Polyphenols and vitamin C from amla, along with sterols from shea, provide antioxidative protection and help in re-aligning cuticular scales, preventing oxidative stress-induced degradation of proteins and lipids. This restores the shine and smoothness.

Scalp-Lipid Barrier Restoration for Sustainable Moisture

Chronic roughness and frizz often begin at the root, from a dry, undernourished scalp. This lipid-rich combination restores the scalp’s microbiome and barrier via anti-inflammatory, emollient action, leading to a healthier follicular environment. Over time, this improves the quality of emerging hair fibers, making new growth softer, better hydrated, and more resistant to environmental damage.

The Science Behind Damaged Shaft & Cuticle

icon

Disrupted Cuticle Layer – The First Line of Defense

The outermost layer of your hair shaft is made up of overlapping, shingle-like cells. In healthy hair, these cells lie flat, creating a smooth surface that reflects light and locks in moisture. But environmental stressors like heat styling, harsh shampoos, UV radiation, and even vigorous brushing can lift or erode this protective layer. When the cuticle is compromised, the hair loses its ability to retain hydration and appears rough, dry, and dull. It also becomes more porous, making it vulnerable to further damage from pollutants and water absorption-swelling cycles.

icon

Loss of Lipid Barrier and Natural Oils

Hair naturally produces a protective layer of lipids and sebum, which coat the cuticle and form a hydrophobic barrier. These oils maintain flexibility, shine, and moisture retention. Frequent washing, sulfate-based cleansers, and lack of oiling strip away these essential lipids. Once the lipid layer is depleted, hair becomes hydrophilic (water-attracting), absorbing excess water from humidity, which lifts the cuticle and causes frizz. The internal structure is then left defenseless, accelerating protein loss and fiber fatigue.

icon

Cortex Degradation – The Inner Structural Collapse

Beneath the cuticle lies the cortex, composed of tightly packed keratin proteins and pigment granules. It gives hair its strength, elasticity, and shape. When the cuticle is damaged, chemical aggressors penetrate deeper, breaking the hydrogen bonds in the cortex. This leads to structural fragmentation, increased brittleness, and breakage. With enough damage, the cortex can no longer hold its integrity, resulting in a frayed, weakened shaft that splits and snaps easily.

icon

Moisture Imbalance & Hygral Fatigue

Hair behaves like a sponge—it swells when wet and contracts as it dries. While this is natural, repeated swelling and drying, especially in already porous hair, leads to hygral fatigue—a chronic weakening of the fiber structure due to repeated water absorption-expansion cycles. Hair then becomes prone to frizz, dullness, and internal fissures. Over time, this moisture imbalance prevents the hair from maintaining a consistent hydration state, leading to perpetually dry and rough textures.

icon

Environmental and Mechanical Stressors

UV rays oxidize hair pigments and degrade keratin, while pollution deposits harmful particles that disrupt the scalp and strand health. Add to this the mechanical stress of tight hairstyles, combing wet hair, or using hot tools without protection—these cause micro-cracks and fissures along the shaft. Even sleeping on rough fabrics can wear down the cuticle over time. These seemingly small stresses accumulate and result in hair that feels coarse to the touch, resists smoothness, and becomes unmanageable.
